Orange and blue - the results....

Well - I did say I'd get some good ideas when I went to quilting last night, and I wasn't disappointed. The idea is to use more shades of orange and more patterned blue and to have the colours moving across the quilt. I promise this would make allot more sense if I'd posted a photo of the pattern, I'll do that very soon. So now I'm going to start planning it as if I don't it'll just look a total mash.
On another point I wondered if any of you out there had used Bubble Set Jet 2000? If so have you got any tips or trade secrets? I've got some tips already off the web but, being the practical lot you are you may have some more very interesting comments.
And for all of you weather watchers, yet again the weather in England is simply gorgeous. Just like July - you watch we'll have a hose pipe ban again soon.
I'll also still plodding on with the large quilt - but I do seem to be making good progress.

Can't wait to see the results...also keep up on the large quilt. I know its really slow, but the end result will be good, I'm sure.

At long last ......

At long last it's finished. My first large (96 x 78 inches) quilt. I'm really pleased with the pieced binding. It took a while to finish off - but I really like it. I've still got a bit of tidying up and I need to add a label - but the hard slog is finished. So I feel a bit lost now without a huge quilt to sit and stitch when I fancy. You can see from below I've already got the fabric for my next project from Strawberry Fayre. And yet again it was great service - really fast. I've washed the fabric and now it needs a good press. I also need to make sure I think about how the cut the fabric so I don't end up with lots of bits. The larger pieces I'll piece to make the back.

Dennis...

...well unfortunately Dennis died last month. Although we were very upset at the time we realise he had a very happy long life (18 years) and he spent his last day in the garden sunning himself . Everyone who came to the house met him - whether they wanted to or not; he was very friendly . So here are a last few photos of him looking like the fat happy orange cat that he was...

Finished!!!

As you can see I did have some 'help' with my 'Sunburst' quilt. Fluff decided one evening that it was hers and no-one else was going to get near it. As you can see it's done - and I feel a bit sad because I thought it would take longer and I've got nothing to hand quilt. But unlike the last HUGE one this one measure approximately 61 x 50 inches. It was machine pieced and hand quilted in the ditch with YLI variegated thread - called Sunset... I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. Thanks to all of you for the good wishes you sent for both my birthday and anniversary. DH is now very keen to read any comments on the blog as he seems to think they're all going to be about him. LOL . Thanks
