Sewing camp










Hello - apologies for the delay in posting. I think I've just about recovered from my 5 days quilting at Sewing Camp. Boy was it hot. Working all day in a room with 8 other women, their machines and about 5 irons made it an even hotter experience. I think we all had a permanent glow. The nights were really hot too - but only 7 of us in our dorm.
I had a great time and I thought I'd start to share some of my photos with you. The batch above are examples of the table and bed runners made during our stay - on our last day we all stand up and 'show and tell' what we've made over the 5 days.
It was great to spend the time with such a great group of women in our sewing room. You learn such alot from each other. I've managed to see an example of the results from Sandra Meech's class which has helped me loads in getting my stuff ready for her class at the Bramble Patch in October. You also get to see what other machines people have and what they like / dislike about them. Also other bits of kit and lots of tips. Plus lots of food and drink and chatting. I really did have a great time. I'll be posting up the stuff I made later next week - but I'll post everyone elses first. Hopefully you'll see how different things look made from the same pattern in different materials.
Well - more stuff to do.

sewing camps are always sooo much fun -- my bisggest problem is I'm "scrap lady" and end up bringing home more then I took!

Hello all, Apologies to you for the gap between posts.  I've been a little preoccupied with getting our bathroom sorted. It's amazing how you can have work done in one room of the house and the rest of the house turns into absolute chaos. And why has everything started to break, microwave, washing machine, kettle...  Anyway - as I keep being reminded it has to get worse before it gets better! Our little kittens are growing fast - they are quite leggy now and still very fast. I'll try to get a photo of them. It will have to be when they're asleep. On the sewing front I'm still working on my NYB swap. I'm making progress but the deadline is a little nearer than I'd like. Cut and Come Again - sort of

Hello all. Are you managing to avoid the downpours? Crikey when it rains - it really rains. So here is my attempt at Edwina MacKinnon's 'Cut and Come Again' technique that she taught to our group - but I was unable to attend the class.  I was a bit annoyed this week and this is a great technique when you're annoyed.  If you look at the link to Edwina's blog you'll see hers is much better (as you would expect).  But I think if I have another look at her blog photos perhaps I can adapt it.  I'll be putting these blocks together to make a cushion cover for the show in Market Bosworth in June. I promise to show you the results when I have it finished. Have a good weekend - and keep dry.

You may have wondered where I've been - well we've had a week away in Lyme Regis at a very cute cottage - 'Wren Cottage'. It was on the little side (2 up and 2 down) - but what else do you need really. It was very near to the sea front and the centre of Lyme Regis. I fell in love with this shop Susie Cole . It was beautiful inside - organised by colour theme. It was a great shabby chic shop. I loved it - so many beautiful things. And Ginger Beer was full of great things for living outside; bug houses, weather stations, plant signs, bags and lots and lots of other lovely things. There were also some great galleries - Blue Lias was one I really loved. A great variety of items and all a good range of prices so anyone could buy something. And you can't go to Lyme Regis without going fossil hunting.... DH did have to be rather patient as I'm a but of a wuss on slippy surfaces - but we did get across the beach (even with one very wet foot). So here are som...
