A lovely day sewing...

I've had a lovely day today sewing with the Rocheberie Schoolhouse Quilters. It's always nice to catch up with such lovely quilters and bloggers:
There was a great speaker as well - Gail Lawther. She described the influence her visits to New Zealand had had on her and also showed us the great work she'd produced. As you can see I just had to buy the book.
We were also very lucky as we got a Christmas pressie too - a charm pack of lovely fabrics. I'm afraid the cake we had didn't last long enough for me to take a photo of - but I can assure you it was very very nice (and a very generous slice it was too).
So all in all a great day. As you can see from the photos below there were lots of us there.

Whooosh talk about quick posting!!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the day. It was a bumper meeting and everyone seems to have really enjoyed themselves. Gail was lovely to listen too and her New Zealand talk was very inspiring.

How fun! Looks like you all had a wonderful day -- it's always nice to be inspired!
I'm glad you enjoyed the day - I was pretty shattered afterwards, never seen it so busy but very 'buzzy' and enjoyable. I had to have that Gail Lowther book too!!

I was really impressed with Gail’s interpretation of what she'd seen in New Zealand - I might have to set our group a challenge for our exhibition in 2011. LOL they love it when I get mad ideas...

Dennis...

...well unfortunately Dennis died last month. Although we were very upset at the time we realise he had a very happy long life (18 years) and he spent his last day in the garden sunning himself . Everyone who came to the house met him - whether they wanted to or not; he was very friendly . So here are a last few photos of him looking like the fat happy orange cat that he was...

At long last ......

At long last it's finished. My first large (96 x 78 inches) quilt. I'm really pleased with the pieced binding. It took a while to finish off - but I really like it. I've still got a bit of tidying up and I need to add a label - but the hard slog is finished. So I feel a bit lost now without a huge quilt to sit and stitch when I fancy. You can see from below I've already got the fabric for my next project from Strawberry Fayre. And yet again it was great service - really fast. I've washed the fabric and now it needs a good press. I also need to make sure I think about how the cut the fabric so I don't end up with lots of bits. The larger pieces I'll piece to make the back.
